Vietnam Women’s Day is a day to celebrateand honour all females in Vietnam. It’s a day where people show their thanks and respect towards Vietnamese women.

On the 20th of October 1930, the Women's Vietnam AgainstImperialism (today known as The Vietnam Women's Union) was officially established. To mark this event, the Communist Party of Vietnam decided that each year on the 20th of October, to recongise this anniversary, Vietnam would honour the women of the nation with a special day called "Vietnam Women's Day".

For female who is in love, this day is like another Valentine’s Day. Beautiful bunches of flowers, meaningful gifts, and greeting cards with best wishes are among popular presents that men often give to their sweetheart on this day.These gifts, especially flowers and jewellery are vibrant and diverse. Flowers for Vietnamese Women’s Day are common gifts to give because most women love fresh flowers. Some people are willing to spend large sums of money on a special gift for their girlfriends. Many luxury gifts, such as gold and diamond rings, can be personalised and customised with their loved one’s name or initials, otherwise with a monogram, or logo.

For married couples, the husbands cook special dishes for their wife at home, or take the whole family out for dinner.Many streets in some major cities in Vietnam, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang have traffic jams, especially in the evening. The men are also in charge of the housework, with the aim of giving their wife a completely free day of doing the chores.

These days many agencies and companies hold awards ceremony to honour the outstanding achievements of women. In the big cities,supermarkets and shopping centres hold promotional campaigns wherebyitems which appeal to women are discounted. Sometimes there are even specialprize draws.

Vietnamese Women’s Day is celebrated all around the country,with many public activities. Banners and flowers are found at every corner of big cities, honoring and raising public awareness about the enormous contribution and devotion that Vietnamese women have made to the development of the country.

Vietnam Women’s Day is the perfect opportunity to say thank you to the mother who always picked you up from school, activities or friends’ places, and the wife who has always been there for you. It is also a day to let your daughter know that she is truly beautiful and only deserves the very best.
